Birsa Agricultural University
Birsa Agricultural University was established in 1981 and is approved by the UGC. The University offers UG, PG and PhD programmes in the numerous specializations. Admissions to the courses are on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance examinations.
In view of the Agro-ecology a new Agricultural University in the Bihar Plateau, as the Birsa Agricultural University was created in the Tribal region covering 46% of land area of the Bihar and was inaugurated by the then Prime Minster of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi on 26th June 1981. The University was created with the great efforts of Sri Kartik Oraon a renowned parliamentarian and social leader of Chotanagpur plateau region. The University was named as the Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) in Honour and Memory of the outstanding and well known as freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who rendered remarkable selfless service for the benefit of the poor tribals. This University was established in the Tribal Belt of Eastern Zone of our country with the primary objective of economic upliftment of the Adivasis (Schedule Tribes), economically backward classes and other inhabitants of this Plateau through The development and education of the modern practices in the field of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Forestry.
The only Agricultural University of the newly created Jharkhand State is the located at Ranchi-Patratu Road at Kanke about 8 KM North of Jharkhand Capital City of Ranchi. Its location stands the 850 19 East and 230 17 North and 625 meters above mean sea level.
Birsa Agricultural University Admission:
Admissions to the UG courses at the University are JCECE (Jharkhand Combined Competitive Entrance Examination) or combined CEE conducted by the I.C.A.R. V.C.I.
Admission to the PG courses are granted based on the students performance in the entrance test conducted by the university. Selection of candidates to MBA is done based on written test followed by the GD and interview
Admission to the PhD courses is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance on the entrance exam

Birsa Agricultural University provides all facilities to the students as well as faculty members.
Hostels: There are 14 hostels for the
students- out of them 5 are girls hostel and 9 are boys hostel. The hostels
have all facilities for a comfortable living accompanied by a mess.

Network Room, Video Conference Rooms with all the latest software as well as
hardware catering the needs of the students, faculties, staff and research
scholars.

Birsa Agriculture University (Au) is the public university founded in the year in 1980. The MHRD authorized the university to the operate as an institution of the higher learning. The campus of the university is at the Ranchi, Jharkhand. It is the University Grants Commission recognized the Birsa Agriculture University. The university is the comprised of the twelve colleges that are part of its administration.
Agriculture Universities first began in the 1945. Then in 1980, realizing the importance of the studying agriculture, Birsa Agriculture University was established in the existence. The university was inaugurated by the Prime Minister late Smt. Indira Gandhi. The goal is to encourage excellence and quality education for the future generation.
Accreditation and Ranking
The
University Grants Commission recognized the Birsa Agriculture University, which
was subsequently approved by the MHRD.
